Young Londoners Research Project
What is the Young Londoners Research Project?
As part of the work underway for the New Deal for Young People, the Greater London Authority commissioned a new programme that funds and supports young people, their youth or support workers and youth organisations to research the views of young people on the following topics;
- Access to youth services
- Barriers to attending youth services
- Young people’s specific needs and the type of activities young people want
From this research, the aim is to design, develop and trial innovative youth-led approaches, based on the areas identified by the young people. The research findings and evaluations of the pilot projects will be shared with policy makers working on the New Deal for Young People and more broadly, with the aim of shaping what provision is funded and how that is promoted to young people in need of support.

The Research Question
What are the barriers facing young girls ages 11-18 years that prevent them from attending girls only sessions at their local youth clubs in Westminster and surround boroughs ?

Partnership for Young London, Rocket Science and Young Harrow Foundation have been funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to deliver a Young Londoners Research Programme. This consist of providing small grants and training to young people supported by youth groups to develop youth-led peer research. This work is supported by peer researchers from Young Hammersmith and Fulham Foundation and Young Westminster Foundation.
